The manufacturer of 3D scanners Thor3D announces a partnership with Pixologic: the Thor3D & ZBrush bundle for digital sculptors, artists, and game designers will help to reduce costs and speed up workflows.
3D modeling is an integral part of the entertainment industry, including game development and movie production. ZBrush played a key role in Avatar, The Avengers, The Lord of The Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean film series. ZBrush software was used for most of AAA games design, including The Last of Us, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Sometimes, artists create 3D models from scratch that takes many hours of hard work. Modern entertainment industry requires maximum photorealistic 3D models, which makes the process of their creation tiring. In other cases, designers use photogrammetry: they “scan” real people or objects. However scanning stations are expensive and require powerful graphics cards, GPU and a large amount of RAM.
Thor3D & ZBrush bundle will allow VFX specialists to speed up the workflow and save budget without compromising the quality of 3D models. Unlike photogrammetry, the Calibry 3D scanner does not require powerful computers to process the data. Minimum system requirements: Intel Core i7, Nvidia graphics card, 8GB RAM.
To demonstrate the capabilities of Calibry, Thor3D scanned one of its employees and sent the model to a 3D artist to turn it into a fantasy character.
Scanning and postprocessing using the Calibry Nest software took 10 minutes, resulting in the STL file, ready for import into ZBrush.
Calibry is capable of digitizing fur, hair and dark objects, providing a flexible and convenient solution for the entertainment industry. The free Calibry Nest software allows to finalize the mesh and export it to ZBrush.
“With the help of Calibry and ZBrush, digital sculptors, artists and designers can get their projects done much easier. We continue to expand the portfolio of our bundles and are proud to collaborate with ZBrush”, comments Anna Zevelyov, CEO and Co-Founder of Thor3D.
The bundle is available for purchase from local Thor3D distributors or on the company's website.
Having headquarters in Moscow and Dusseldorf, the company has been developing handheld 3D scanners since 2015. Thor3D was the first to launch wireless handheld 3D scanners and is an expert in 3D imaging and complex data processing.
